Johnny Wayne Woods, Sr.
May 12, 1945 - October 8, 2008

Mr. Johnny Wayne Woods, Sr. was born on Saturday, May 12, 1945 the son of the late William Louis and Alta Mae Derk Woods. Mr. Woods died, Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Scripps Mercy Memorial Hospital in Chula Vista, Calif. at the age of 63 years 4 months and 26 days. Born in Lake City, Ark., he had lived in California for 40 years having moved there from Trumann. He was a truck driver and of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his wife Victoria, of the home; three sons, Johnny Wayne Woods, Jr. of Bell Gardens, CA, Terry Lee Woods of Parker, AZ, Benjamin Richard Woods of Kauka, Hawaii; one brother, William Wayne Woods of Blue Jacket, OK; four sisters, Sharon Woods and Sue Bentley both of Trumann, Joyce Cook of Payneway, and Peggy Dalton of Biggers-Reyno; one granddaughter, Nikea Woods. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon October 16, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann with the Rev. Jimmy Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the Marked Tree Cemetery of Marked Tree, Ark., under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. Pallbearers will be Bobby Woods, Brian Murrell, Richard Clayton, Gary Clayton, Jim Gillette, Carl Cook and Bud Collett.
