Clara Stotts Heathcock
February 12, 1915 - September 27, 2007

Mrs. Clara Lucille "Curt" Stotts Heathcock was born on Friday, February 12, 1915, daughter of the late Yeuin and Mattie Maxberry Chambliss. Mrs. Heathcock died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 92 years 7 months and 15 days. She was born in Elm Grove, Ark. and had lived in Trumann for the past 87 years and was formerly of New Mexico. She was a retired teacher for the Trumann Public Schools, worked for the Trumann Museum for 17 years, was a member of the Ladies 70 & Up Sunday School Class, Maple Grove Extension Homemakers Club, Arkansas Retired Teachers and a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Omer H. Stotts and her second husband, J.W. Heathcock, three sisters one brother and her parents. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Hoelscher (Jack) of Memphis; Wanda Stephens (Ron) of Trumann; two sons, Bobby Stotts (Bonnie) and Jimmy Stotts (Mickey) all of Trumann; one step-son, Kenneth Heathcock of Fayetteville, Ark., 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.. Funeral service will be Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Trumann with Dr. Jim Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark., under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Stotts Jr., Rodney Stotts, John Tull, Spencer Tull, Robert Hoelscher, Robert Stotts, and Jay Haag. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies 70 & Up Sunday School Class at Maple Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.     Your mother and our family go backmany years. She was a teenager with my mother and taught Eddie and my sister, Bertha, at Shady Grove in the late 40's. I taughther brother's children--Doris, Ailene, and Larry Chamblis--at Central when I began my teaching career. She has been a dedicatedChristian wife, mother, teacher, and community and church leader. We are sure that she has left you with many wonderful memories.

    I was very to hear of Mrs. Heathcock's passing. Every Thursday I took my nephew to the Library and Museum and he had to speak to her and pet the coyote. She was always very sweet and nice.

    My mom called me and told me that Ms. Heathcock had passed away. I can remember back years ago when at the Maple Grove Baptist Church when she was the song leader and I was the piano player. She will be dearly missed by all those who had the chance to know her. My sympathies go out to the entire family and may she rest in peace until the day when we meet again in Heaven. Mike Johnson.
