Raymond Edward Sweat

Mr. Raymond Edward Sweat, 78, of Cherokee Village, AR died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at his daughters residence in Trophy Club, Texas. Mr. Sweat was born July 17, 1928 in Harrisburg, Ark., and had lived in Cherokee Village for the past 8 years and was formerly of Cabot, Ark., and Webbers Falls, OK. He was retired from the Remington Arms Mfg. in Lonoke, Ark., was a devoted husband, father and grandfather many a days he spent filming the kids and grandkids. He enjoyed old time country music and was an avid collector. Mr. Sweat enjoyed giving everyone a smile and always had his sense of humor with him. He was a life long sports fan and enjoyed many, but his favorite was boxing. Mr. Sweat was preceded in death by his sister, Eva Toy-Sweat; three brothers, Howard, Pete, and Melvin Sweat and his parents, William Oscar Sweat Sr. and Lucinda Henderson Sweat. He is survived by his wife, Arzella DePriest Sweat of the home; two daughters, Sherry Whitaker of Mineral Wells, Texas and Melinda Burns of Trophy Club, Texas; two sons, Gary Sweat of Webber Falls, OK and Raymond Sweat Jr., of Paige, Texas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon July 18, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Jim Pagan officiating. Burial followed in Pine Hill Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Pallbearers will be Gary Sweat, Ray Sweat Jr., Hershell McIntosh, Tony DePriest, Austin DePriest and Timothy DePriest. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Meister, Leon Tharp, Marion Green and Oris Fulks. Visitation will be Tuesday evening July 17, 2007 from 5 to 7 at Thompson Funeral Home.
