Rev. Cecil Washington Manes
August 26, 1922 - July 4, 2007

Rev. Cecil Washington Manes was born on Saturday, August 26, 1922, son of the late Clarence Washington and Jessie Strauser Manes. Rev. Manes died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 84 years, and 10 months and 8 days. Born in Camp, Ark. he had lived in Trumann since 1959. He was a retired minister and member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Rev. Manes was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Mae Moss Manes, three brothers Roy, Troy and Chester Manes and his parents. Survivors include three daughters, Sue Sturdivant of Greenbriar, Teresa Tackett of Crossville, Tenn., and Judy Daniel of Trumann; three sons, J.C. Manes of Bentonville, Bobby Manes and Gary Manes both of Trumann; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Trumann with Bro. Larry Tribble, Bro. Carl Winkles and Bro. Ron Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Active pallbearers will be Gene Benson, Larry Cossey, Jerry Murphy, Russell Page, Hal Stewart and Jerry Vinson. Honorary pallbearer will be Carmack Johnson. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 to 8 at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. An online guest book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net

    Manes Family, I am so very sorry about Mr. Manes' death. Although it happened suddenly and quickly, which is hard for us to handle sometimes,I pray that God will comfort you because of this.     i remember when we lived across the street from you all, one new year teresa and i got some pie plates and went outside and beat on them saying"happy new year everbody" lord some of the silly things we did , im so sorry to hear about your dad tell all the children you all are in my prayers and we know he is in a lot better place than we are although that wont keep you from missing him i know but just look to the lord and he will give you all comfort.
