  7. Gwen Vaughn, Bono, AR says

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Jackie. I only had the opportunity to know him just a few years when he would stop by to visit us at Pediatric Day Clinic while we were located on Speedway. He was always offering and willing to help with any capentery work that needed to be done. He would offer his services to us even is he could not fix something. I just wish I could have had the opportunity to have gotten to know him better. As I read some of the other comments on here about Jackie, it just makes me realize that he was the type of man that I always thought he was. It shocked me to learn that he was one of the men missing after the bad weather but was not surprised to learn he was helping others when he lost his life. He always seemed so concerned for the welfare and safey of others. I did not have the pleasure of meeting you girls but you had a very special father. I know your hearts are heavy but just keep in mind that you will all be reunited again someday. And never forget the wonderful smile and jokes that he would always tell to keep people laughing. People could not help laughing and being happy when they were around him. God Bless all of you.Gwen Vaughn - Trumann Pediatric Day Clinic

  9. Gail Peeler, Trumann, AR says

Michelle, Candice & Jaclyn,Your dad was one of the finest people around. He cared about others and was always there to help when needed.I went to school with Jackie and graduated with him many years ago. Little did I know that years later I would marry his cousin.I remember when Shannon, my youngest son, was about five years old, we couldn't find him anywhere. We searched and searched and could not find him. I was frantic. We called Jackie and he came and helped us look for him. He found him a couple streets over playing in the back yard with some kids. Jackie brought Shannon home and sat him down and gave him a good talking to even though I had done it many times. Shannon listened to Jackie because he never wandered off again. The last time I saw Jackie was when Casey and I were on our way to Eureka Springs in May and we stopped in Hardy. We looked over at the window of this cafe on Main Street and there sat Jackie by the window drinking his coffee. We went in and talked to him. He told us all about his place and invited us to come by and see him some time. He was so happy talking about it.My sincere condolences go out to all of you and your families. Jackie will be missed by all. He was one of a kind. Love, Gail

  14. Gwen Vaughn, Bono, AR says

I had the opportunity to only know Jackie for the past few years. He would always stop by our clinic when it was located on Speedway and joke with me and Carrie T. He was always making everyone laugh and would offer to fix anything that might need fixing at the clinic. He was a very fun loving person and will be missed by everyone that knew him. I didn't have the opportunity to know his girls but they had a very special father. I hated it so bad when I heard that he was one of the men missing after the bad weather at Hardy. But he was doing what he always did, put the welfare and safety of others ahead of anything. Girls, you just keep in your mind that even though Jackie is gone for now, someday you will be reunited with him again. My heart and prayers go out to all of his family and those friends that loved him so much. Gwen Vaughn - Trumann Pediatric Day Clinic

Jackie's death is such a tragic loss. I'll always remember him as one of the best neighbors our family ever had. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and was always pleasent, greeting us with a wave. The last time I saw him was at my daddy's funeral. He held the church door open for the family as we filed into the sanctuary. He was stoically blinking back tears. Michelle, Jaclyn and Candice, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. Your daddy was a good man. I know you're going to miss him.

On a personal level, The fish fry's, BBQ's and Crawfish boils were enjoyable, as always with Jack, he kept you laughing. Jackie loved kids, and mine were no exception, both of my boys looked up to Jack. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.Jay Paul

May you all know the wonderful memories I hold within my heart of your Daddy. He was a wonderful person whose laughter and smiles will forever be implanted within the hearts of those he met. He was a friend to all. My heart warms when I think back to the large and loud Santa Claus coming across the front yard, the scary but ever so funny snipe hunt, and of course all the ballgames we all shared.
