Anita Inez Whitlatch
March 14, 1939 - October 28, 2019

Mrs. Anita Inez Talbot Whitlatch, 80, of Trumann passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on October 28, 2019. She was a lifetime resident of Trumann and attended Trumann Schools throughout her education and enjoyed a wonderful 28 year teaching career at Trumann’s Cedar Park Elementary. Anita was married for 57 years and 10 months to her high school sweetheart Dale Whitlatch.  One fateful day in the 10th grade math class Anita returned a wink, and that wink began a lifetime of love. Anita enjoyed her family, her church, shopping with her granddaughter and she will leave a legacy of love, faith, and devotion.  Anita was a member of Phi Mu (Arkansas State University), ADK Teacher’s Sorority, the Mary Juhas Sunday School Class and Maple Grove Baptist Church.  The assurance of eternal life was a peace that sustained Anita throughout her life, and she is now resting and praising her Savior face to face.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melaney Whitlatch; four sisters, Leatrice Martin, Eula Mae Ford, Anna Lois Sims and Dora Ann Haley; three brothers, M.P. Talbot Jr., J.A. Talbot and John Talbot; and her parents M.P. and Cora Ann Higginbottom Talbot Sr. She is survived by her husband, Dale Whitlatch; one daughter, Lora Caery and husband Sam of Cabot, AR; and one granddaughter, Beth Anne Peterson and husband Banks. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00  to 7:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church, 13509 Maple Grove Lane in Trumann.         Pallbearers will be the deacons of Maple Grove Baptist Church.  Honorary pallbearers will be The Mary Juhas Sunday School Class of Maple Grove Baptist Church.       A Celebration of Life will be Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Duffel and Rev. Jim Swinford officiating.  Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge of arrangements. 1. JEANIA HOWARD, 1069 Cumberland Drive, Evans, GA 30809 says

ANITA WAS MY YOUNGEST AUNT. SHE WAS MORE LIKE A SISTER TO ME. WE KEPT IN CONTACT THROUGH CARDS, LETTERS AND EVEN E-MAIL UNTIL SHE WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO DO SO. BECAUSE ANITA ENCOURAGED ME TO BECOME A TEACHER, I DID JUST THAT AND I RETIRED AFTER ALMOST 30 YEARS.YOU, WHO ARE READING THIS, MUST KNOW THAT SHE WAS THE MOST FUN AND EVEN THE FUNNIEST MEMBER OF OUR TALBOT FAMILY. SHE LOVED DALE AND HER GIRLS MORE THAN ANYONE COULD EVER REALIZE. I THINK SHE LOVED ME TOO, EVEN THOUGH SHE THOUGHT MY DAD, FORD CARR AND HER SISTER, EULA MAE TALBOT CARR, SPOILED ME ROTTEN. ANITA, SPENT MUCH TIME WITH US IN MEMPHIS AS MAE WAS DYING OF CANCER.
