George "Pop" Walter Stubbs
October 16, 1953 - November 22, 2020

Mr. George Walter Stubbs of Trumann departed this life on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Arkansas Continued Care Hospital in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 6 days.  He was born Friday, October 16, 1953 in Greenwood, MS to the late Billy Gene and Daphne Jean Ussery Stubbs.  George was a hard working, honest, and loyal man that everyone looked up to and always sought his advise.  He loved family and was happiest spending time being “Pop” and playing with his grandkids.  George was the warehouse manager for Dixie Gin and Warehouse and was of the Methodist faith.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Davis Stubbs, one nephew, Cliff Stubbs, and his parents.        He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary E. Stephen Stubbs of the home; three daughters, Amanda (Charles) Williams of Franklin, TN, April Clayton of Little Rock, and Anna (Michael) Vinson of Jonesboro; two brothers, Billy Gene (Cheryl) Stubbs, Jr of Coila, MS and John (Diane) Stubbs of Clarksdale, MS; one sister, Sally Rowe of Coila, MS; and four grandchildren, Charles Williams, Callen Williams, Emrey Vinson, and Evelyn Vinson.        Visitation will be Friday, November 27, 2020 from 5:00  to 6:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.  Graveside services will be Sunday, November 29th at 1:00 p.m. at Oddfellow West Cemetery in Greenwood, MS with Larry Edwards officiating under the direction of Wilson Knight Funeral Home..        Pallbearers will be Gene Stubbs, Joseph Rowe, Michael Vinson, Charles Williams, Hays Stubbs, Sean Stubbs, Stephen Groves, and Cameron Stubbs.  Honorary pallbearer is Quentin Stubbs.         In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing will be required along with face masks.       An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net

    Prayers for the family in this time of sadness. He always brought his truck to me to keep services and repairs when I was at wood ford and central ford to work on and was a super nice guy and we would talk about cotton at the gin and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.

    Anna, I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man and so funny! I love when he came in the clinic and would bring us snacks and joke around with us. Just the love he showed in person for you and your girls was so precious. I love you guys and I am praying really hard for your family.
