Gerald Ray Glidewell
December 7, 1949 - January 11, 2021

Gerald Ray Glidewell  of Trumann, departed this life on January 11, 2021 at the family residence at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 4 days.  He was born Wednesday, December 7, 1949 in Tracy, CA and lived most of his lifetime in Trumann.  Gerald was co-owners with Randy McClung of McWell MFG, a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, Lifetime Master Mason, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite,  served on the Trumann Housing Authority Board for 32 years with 27 years as chairman.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ray and Elsie Geraldine Smith Glidewell and grandson, Emsley Ward McNair.       He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 51 years, Rayva McDaniel Glidewell of the home; two daughters, Mika (David) Davis and Maranda McNair both of Trumann;  three grandchildren, Kennedy Crowell, Isabella Davis and Parks McNair.       Graveside Celebration of Life service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Sarah Ellzey officiating.  Burial will follow with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge of arrangements.       In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing will be required along with face masks and the signing of a COVID-19 form.       An online guest book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.

    We just found out about Gerald passing and we are saddened to hear and our prayers are with you. I will never forget when I moved in across the street from y'all when you lived on Reed. Me being a single mom you made me and my son feel safe. So many memories and how Gerald called out precious cat Casper king of reed st. And how on the 4th of July we shot fireworks. How I cried when you moved yet I knew how close y'all were and you wanted to be together living in the meadows. May God give you strength and we love you.     Rayva, I was so sorry to read about Gerald's passing. In my mind's eye I still envision you and him as you were back in the late 60's. Yet, in the years between then and now you two built a good life together and raised a family. There's no doubt you, the kids and grands will miss Gerald terribly, but what a blessing to have had so many years together! God grant your comfort as you lay him to rest.
