Billy Gene Barker departed this life on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Flo & Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 78 years, and 2 months.  He was born Thursday, September 16, 1943 in Trumann and lived most of his lifetime in the Trumann and Jonesboro area.  Billy was a member of Family Fellowship in Jonesboro.  Billy was a Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and was retired from Verizon after 30 years of service.   He was preceded in death by his first wife Peggy Barker, two brothers, Jerry Barker and Dennis Barker and his parents, Andrew Jackson   Jr and Mary Dean Lafarlett Barker.       He is survived by his wife Deb Barker of the home; one son, Tony (Lisa) Barker of Stafford, VA; two grandchildren, Kelsie Barker of Benton, AR and Taylor Barker of Fort Smith, AR; three brothers, Richard Barker of Paragould, AR, Donald Barker and John Barker both of Jonesboro, AR; four sisters, Gaye Parish of Bay, Wanda Lamkin, Kathy Limpach and Linda Hogue all of Jonesboro.       Graveside service will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with  Dr. Ferrel Duffel officiating.         In lieu of flowers please send lasting memorials to Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 E Matthews, Jonesboro, AR  72401.      In compliance with Covid-19 guidelines, a mask or other facial covering is optional and social distancing will be observed.       An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.

    I remember Billy from when I was a small child. He worked at Wood Ford with my stepfather. He was a sweet young man and joked around and was always laughing.
