Ray Nichols
July 7, 1937 - November 25, 2021

Quinton “Ray” Nichols, 84, of Marked Tree departed from this life on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 18 days.  He was born Wednesday, July 7, 1937 in Lepanto to the late Chester Monroe and Alice Mae Coats Nichols.  Ray moved from Lepanto in 1955 to look for work in Michigan where he worked for Pepsi-Cola, Country Fresh Dairy and retired from Crystal Flash where most of his work was mechanical.  Ray moved back to Marked Tree in 2000 and joined the Lepanto Church of Christ.  He was a Mason, Marked Tree Elm Lodge #766 and Eastern Star Crowley Ridge #625.  He was preceded in death by his only brother, Mervin Nichols, Sr.; step-son, Kirk Porter and a step-great-grandchild       He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Nichols of the home; five daughters, Wendi Nichols of Wyoming, MI, AnnMarie (Kyle) Grabowski of Fife Lake, MI, Dawn Porter of Wyoming, MI, Jodi (Troy) Crymes of Easley, SC, and Brenda (James) Chavis of Lawrenceville, GA; three sons, Randall Hoorn of Grand Rapids, MI, Perry (Susan) Nichols of Hudsonville, MI and Kevin (Garby) Porter of Lowell, MI; grandchildren, Leanne Porter, Jacob Porter, Joshua Porter, Bryan Coffey, Melissa Craig, Franki Donze, Brandon Nichols and Rico Finney and Aidan Finney; great-grandchildren, Breanna Rauch, Hasko Craig, Neicey Craig, Kaydance Rice, Kandyn Donze, Alexis Porter, Dawson Porter, and Braelyn Porter; and many nieces and nephews.       Visitation will be Sunday, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann and an additional hour from 1:00 to 2:00 on Monday before the service.       A Celebration of Life will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Derek Glover officiating.  Burial will follow in Nichols Cemetery in Marked Tree, AR.        Pallbearers will be Daniel Craig, Charles Woodson, Steve Van Koevering, Kevin Porter, Aidan Finney and Brandon Nichols.  Honorary pallbearer will be Wendi Nichols.       Lasting Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-9959 or Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 E Matthews, Jonesboro, AR  72401..       In compliance with Covid-19 guidelines, a mask or other facial covering will be optional.       An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.
