Jerry Gene Terry
February 27, 1944 - January 5, 2022

Jerry “Gene” Terry of Trumann went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 9 days.  He was born Sunday, February 27, 1944 in Harrisburg, graduated from Trumann High School in 1963 and attended ASU. He was a member of the Arkansas National Guard before moving to St. Louis at the age of 22 where he worked at Ford Motor Company. He retired after 30 years and moved back to Trumann and was a member of First General Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.  Gene was a member of the Quorum Court in Poinsett County for 12 years.      He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Beverly G. “Bev” Hall Terry; one sister, Dixie June (James G.) Roberts, a special nephew, James Dean “J.D.” Terry, and was the son of the late, Odus Henry and Florence Josephine Houston Terry.     Survivors include three daughters, Dianna (Ronnie) White, Debbie (Erik) Scholl and Danyell (Kelly) Box and one son, Justin (Nicki) Terry; his twin brother, Dean Terry and younger brother David (Ulla) Terry; one niece, Mary June Terry; six grandchildren, Dylan (Michaela) Chesser, Tyler (Madison) Scholl, Paige Putt, Taylor Chesser, Triston Freet and Colton White; two great-grandchildren, Cessily and Ryder; one great nephew, Ridge.       The family will receive friends on Monday, January 10th from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.  A celebration of life will follow at 1:30 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Darrel Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro. Pallbearers will be Dylan Chesser, Tyler Scholl, Triston Freet, Colton White, Lamon Moye and Roger Haynes. Lasting memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718         In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, we recommended that face masks or other facial covering and social distancing be observed.     COVID quarantine is preventing me from attending services, but want to express my deepest regards to the family. Friends for 50 plus years, leaves a void in my life for a friend that I spent many hours with while in the guards in the 60’s then later on when Gene retired and moved back to Trumann from Saint Louis. You will be missed my friend.
