Patsy Evelyn Turner
June 4, 1926 - November 5, 2022

Patsy Evelyn Dean Turner of Trumann departed this life  Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro at the age of 96 years, 5 months and 1 day.  She was born in O’Kean, AR, June 24, 1926, to the late John Neal and Gertrude Bottoms Dean.  She was the granddaughter of Lonzo Fountain Bottoms, a well known self educated Veterinarian for Randolph and surrounding counties.  Her family moved to Trumann when she was six months old.       Patsy was married to Jimmy C. Turner on September 20, 1941.  They were married until Jimmy passed away in 2008 after 68 years of marriage.  She was a quintessential famer’s wife known for her beautiful vegetable gardens  -  she had a GREEN THUMB!       Having married her husband at an early age, she considered her in-laws as her second parents. “Jima Lee”, as her mother-in-law was affectionately known, taught Patsy the art of culinary skills and sewing beautiful clothes.   Patsy was a charter member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church built on the Turner farm in 1945. She was a Sunday School teacher and active member until the doors closed in 1958. In later years, Patsy was known for her remarkable ability to remember names, dates and history of friends and family alike. She was her family's "Google Search Engine", receiving frequent inquiring calls from family members. She loved family reunions where she regaled all the younger generations with detailed family history of the Dean, Bottoms and Turner families. On her 90th birthday in 2016 she had a large family celebration with over one hundred extended family members attending from all over the United States. She had a wonderful time visiting with four generations. She had fun spending lots of hours reading cards and looking at the pictures from that day.       She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Turner; one son, Jimmy “Butch” Turner, one daughter, Missy Joann Price, six sisters, Geneva Martin, Reba Greenlee, Helen Pearson, Mildred Thornton, Mary Ann Kelly and Doris Sue Pearson, and two Turner brothers, Richard and Lee C.       She is survived by one daughter, Judy (Tom) Thomson of Daytona Beach, FL; nine grandchildren, Patrick Farrell, Janet Akin, Amy McClellan, Holly Rainwater, Neal Turner, Rhett Turner, Jill Khudheir, Jeff Thomson and Douglas Thomson; nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Dean, two sisters, Peggy Dean Tortorice and Kate Dean Sandusky; three Turner sisters, Mary Phillips, Patsy Smith Moody, and Bonny Smelser; and many special nieces and nephews.       Graveside will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. John Maley officiating. Active pallbearers will be Neal Turner, Rhett Turner, Patrick Farrell, Chris Akin, Larry McClellan, and Tim Rainwater.  Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Smith, Martin Smith, Wes Osment, Mike Roach, Corey Overstreet, Bob Walton, Roger Moon, Mike Gossett, Haider Khudheir, James Smelser, James Dean, Anthony Pearson, and Tom Martin.         In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, P. O Box 575 Trumann, AR.  72472         Our family would like to thank Flo and Phil Hospice House for their gentle and loving care of Mother during her last week and her special friend and caregiver, Connie Seaton.   Online guest book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net
