Doris Ellen Walker
June 1, 1933 - April 18, 2023

Doris Ellen Walker was born in Marked Tree, Arkansas on June 1, 1933, passed peacefully on April 18, 2023 at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 17 days.  She was the youngest of seven children born to Doss Ebenezer Walker and Mabel Irene Whaley Walker. Preceding her in death were her parents and siblings, Mildred Marie Walker, Russell Walker, William Walker, Morris Edward “Ed” Walker  (Mary Lee), Eva Louise Kennedy (Robert), Clarence Gideon “CG” Walker (Meryl).  Her nephew Robert Kennedy and nieces Kathy Walker and Carolyn Walker Mitchell.       She is survived by sister-in-law, Evelyn Harmon Walker, nephews, Russell David Walker (Tonda), Paul Brent Walker (Patty), Edward Dale Walker and niece, Brenda Louise Kennedy.         Doris attended Marked Tree Schools through her Junior Year; graduating from Nettleton High School in 1951 before moving to Trumann, where she remained her entire adult life. Faith was a big part of her life and was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Trumann for over 70 years where she made life long friends.  Doris worked in Trumann her entire career- employed by Singer Sewing Machine Cabinet Co, First National Bank, Columbia Forest Products Inc. and retired from Walker’s Dairy Bar, owned by her brother C.G.      The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20th from 10-11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, AR.  A Celebration of Life will follow in the chapel at 11:00 with Bro. Ricky Forbis officiating.  Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro.         In compliance with COVID-19 guidelines, a mask or other facial covering is optional.       Online guest book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net

    She was quiet, kind, and a loving sister and aunt. I'm glad she is able to go to her heavenly home. Aunt Doris Ellen cared for her parents and was a constant companion and later care-giver of her older sister. I never saw one without the other. She really supported all of her brothers and sisters. She reminded me of a lovely southern woman who just walked out of the pages of a Faulkner novel.
