James Christopher Sowell
August 29, 1978 - February 17, 2024

James Christopher “Chris” Sowell of Trumann departed this life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 45 years, 5 months and 19 days.  Chris was born Tuesday, August 29, 1978 in Greenwood, Miss., and was a 1996 graduate of Pillow Academy in Greenwood and was a 2010 graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Biochemistry. He was the Director of Safety at Fullen Dock and Warehouse in Memphis, TN. Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Morris and Mildred Inez Sowell; maternal grandparents, J. D. and Virgie Blackman Nester; and six uncles.       Chris is survived by his parents, James Robert "Bob" and Katherine Nester (Kathy) Sowell of Trumann; four aunts, Mildred Laura (Rickey) Millwood, Norma Nester (John) Beckwith, Murl (Dean) Chriss, and Faye (Billy) Slawson; one uncle, Doug (Sarah) Nester; one great-aunt, Shirley Childs, and a host of cousins.       The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 22nd from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. A celebration of life will follow at 1 : 30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Dr. John Maley officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro.       Pallbearers will be Wes Osment, Chuck Palmer, David Bridges and Josh Odom.
