Joseph Lee "J.L." Hicks
June 5, 1933 - December 28, 2024

Rev. Joseph Lee “J L” Joe Hicks departed from this life Saturday, December 28th at Conway Regional Medical in Conway, AR at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 23 days.  He was born Monday, June 5, 1933 in Pine Bluff, AR to the late Robert and Gladys Yaney Hicks.  He graduated from Pine Bluff High School  and attended Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, Mississippi.  Joseph was a licensed minister with United Pentecostal Church International for 70 years.  He served as presbyter in the Arkansas District for 23 years.  He was a master electrician and a member of IBEW 295.  He was electrician for the Arkansas Campground and wired many churches and pastor’s homes.  He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, 1 brother and his parents.      He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jean Hicks of Mayflower, AR; two daughters, Betty Jean (Danny) Jones and Carol Lynn (Randell) Curtis; two sisters, Wannie Jean Pope of Little Rock, AR and Patricia Newell of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.     Pallbearers will be his grandsons,  Chris Jones, Brian Jones, Shawn Jones, Joseph Curtis, Clinton Curtis and  brother-in-law, David Atkinson.       Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 till 1:30 P.M. at First Pentecostal Church, 407 Christy Ave in Trumann.  A Celebration of life will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Herman Gantt and Rev. Clint Curtis officiating. Graveside Service will be Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Anna City Cemetery in Anna, Illinois.      An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneral home.net
