James Ellis Sugg
September 18, 1964 - January 16, 2025

James Ellis Sugg, Jr., of Trumann passed away on January 16, 2025 at his home at the age of 60 years, 3 months and 29 days.  He was born Friday, September 18, 1964 in West Point where he graduated High School in 1982. After High School, James attended Mississippi State University.  He would go on to live in Memphis, TN, Tulsa, OK., and Trumann, AR.   While in school, he played the trombone in the band, enjoyed  motorcycle riding, hanging out with friends, and making everyone laugh wherever he went.   He had a beautiful voice and often sang at Trinity Baptist, in the school choir and in many local musicals.  He started working early in life as a paperboy for the Daily Times Leader where he later became a writer and photographer.  He also worked in the moving and agricultural industries.  In 2000, he and former spouse Julie Sugg became parents to his pride and joy, son Riley Wilson Sugg.  He and Riley enjoyed fishing, making each other laugh and just spending time together.  Riley inherited his dads talent of writing, love of music, and sense of humor.  During his last ten years, James worked closely with his family in Trumann.  He also helped care for a special friends loved one.     James was preceded in death by his father, James Ellis Sugg; grandparents, Harry Sugg, Sr., Mary Riley Sugg, Harvey (Helen) Anderson; aunt Gwen (James) Warren; uncles Claud Cash, Harry (Ruby) Sugg, Jr., and Larry Anderson.      He is survived by his mother, Patsy Sugg of Lees Summit, MO; one son, Riley Sugg of Tulsa, OK; one sister, Melissa (Jon) Bradley of Kansas City, MO; nephew, T.J. Bradley of Baton Rouge, LA; special friend, Patricia Watts of Trumann; one aunt, Joan Cash of Jonesboro; uncles, Harvey (Betty) Anderson of North Carolina, Jim (Frances) Anderson of Memphis, TN and David (Marsha) Anderson of  Tulsa, OK  and many cousins.         Private burial will be near Amory, MS at a later date.
