Harry Sanders

Mr. Thomas Harry Sanders, Sr., of Paragould departed this life Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 99 years, 4 months and 3 days. He was born, Sunday, January 28, 1917 in Newbern, Tenn., and had lived in Paragould the last 32 years and was formerly of Bay. He was a retired shipping clerk in Chicago and a member of Transformed Church of God in Paragould. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verdie Sullivan Sanders; four sisters, Mary Ersula Meyers, Dutro Holt, Isla Jean Harris and Ida Sue Stanley; one brother, Wayne Sanders; and his parents, Thomas R. and Flora Linville Sanders. He is survived by three daughters, Shirley Taylor of Milton, WV, Gail Sanders of Crestview, FL and Patricia Kieras of Trumann, AR; one son, Thomas Sanders, Jr., of Paragould, AR; one sister, Claudia Stanley of Atlanta, GA; several nieces and nephews; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Mark Ollenberger, officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland, Ark. Pallbearers will be Walter Kieras, Thomas Sanders, Jr., Christopher Knapczyk, Brittany Kenealy, James Ward, Jordan Kenealy, Mark Kenealy, and Roger Storms. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.
