Jimmy Lee LaFarlette
October 23, 1935 - March 28, 2010

Mr. Jimmy Lee LaFarlette was born on Wednesday, October 23, 1935, son of the late Kirby and Flossie Marie Daugherty LaFarlette. He died on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the family residence, at the age of 74 years 5 months and 5 days. He was born in Shady Grove, Ark. and had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. He was a car dealer, member of the Trumann Masonic Lodge and First Baptist Church in Trumann. Mr. LaFarlette was preceded in death by one sister, Lila Mae McMasters and his parents, Kirby and Marie Daugherty LaFarlette. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nancy Caroline Criss LaFarlett of the home, two sons, Lee LaFarlett of Trumann and Michael LaFarlett of Little Rock; one brother, Donald LaFarlette of Alma; three sisters, Tomolene Carey of Brownwood, Tex., Imogene Harris of Jonesboro and Brenda Stephens of Henderson; three grandchildren, Kristin LaFarlett Austin and husband, Tim Austin, Michael D. LaFarlett, II, and Jody Lee LaFarlett and three great-grandchildren, Emilee Bibb, MaKenna Austin, and Jude LaFarlett. Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Active pallbearers will be O.E. Ross, Bryan Walters, Bobby Daniel, Kenneth Linton, Howard Lairson, Lee LaFarlett and Michael LaFarlett. Honorary Pallbearer will be Sam Ross. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.     Nancy, I am so sorry to hear that Jimmy is gone. I enjoyed my visits with him and you when I visited. He talked with me about coming to Oregon and seeing where they lived for a short time as children. I wish so much that he could have made that trip. I thought of him often and will miss him.
