Verna Grace Criss
April 20, 1941 - December 23, 2009

Ms. Verna Grace Criss was born on Sunday, April 20, 1941, daughter of late Dwight Cash Criss Sr., and Flossie Pauline Whitlatch Criss. Ms. Criss died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the family residence in Trumann, Ark., at the age of 68 years 8 months and 3 days. She was born in Jonesboro, Ark., and had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. She was a retired second grade teacher and reading specialist for the Trumann Public School, a member of the Poinsett County Retired Teacher Assoc., Alpha Delta Kappa, the Wednesday Lunch Bunch, Monday Senior Citizens Dance Class, and a member of the First Baptist Church and the Encourager Ladies Sunday School Class. Ms. Criss was preceded in death by one son, Criss Allen Hannon in 2006 and her parents. Survivors include one son, Tommy and wife Jean Hannon of Kansas, Okla.; two sisters, Ada Lou Terry and Nancy Lafarlette both of Trumann; two brothers, Dwight Criss, Jr., and Rev. Douglas Criss both of Trumann. Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Pallbearers will be Dale Whitlatch, Todd Whitlatch, Johnny Whitlatch, Jody Whitlatch, Vernon Terry and Jim Mincy. Visitation will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. Memories may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 575, Trumann, AR., 72472.
