Obituary

Rosemary Ballard Richardson of Trumann went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 17 days. She was born Tuesday, June 29, 1943, in Tyronza to the late Harold and Opal Lewis Worley. She lived most of her lifetime in Trumann and was a member of First General Baptist Church. After graduating Trumann High in 1961, she attended cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician and instructor. A businesswoman, she owned Ballard’s beauty shop and was co-owner of Ballard’s Flowers, where she worked alongside her first husband until his death in 2002. She worked hard all her life and was proud to serve the community as a beautician and florist for over 45 years, until her retirement in 2023. During her retirement she enjoyed going to the Goodwill and other local thrift shops. She loved her family and was always helping people. Rosemary knew almost everybody in Trumann. If she didn’t know you personally, after a conversation with you, you would find out she knew one of your family members for years, either as a customer or as a childhood friend. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Ballard, Sr., her second husband, Eugene Richardson; her son, Bobby “Beau” Ballard, Jr.; her parents; two brothers, Joe and Thomas Worley; and her sister Ann Hatfield. She is survived by two granddaughters, Lexie (Marc) Jarrett of Harrisburg, AR and Anna Claire Ballard of Bradenton, FL; great-granddaughter, Addi Jarrett; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends Friday, March 20th, from 5:00 P.M.—6:00 P.M. at First General Baptist Church, 15765 Promised Land Ln N, Trumann, AR 72472. A Celebration of Life will follow at 6:00 P.M. with Rev. Darrel Miller officiating. Committal service will be Saturday, March 21st at 10:00 A.M. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Todd and Zach Worley, John Rose, Elis and Ian House, Jessie Easter, Jon and Clint Smithee. Honorary pallbearers are her nieces and nephews. "To Lexi and Anna-Claire, I hope you both know how much I love you and how special both of you are in this world. I do believe your grandmother played a big role in the exceptionally strong, amazing and beautiful individuals you have become. Rosemary will always remind me of what being a lady is all about and how as a woman, we can be both beautiful and brave. She was a prominent part of our community and I respect that. I’m sorry I couldn’t be at the service but I want you to know I’ve been thinking and praying for you both.

"I met Rosemary one day at the Dollar General, standing in line to check out. She was such a sweet person she had asked where are you from I know it's not around here. Lol! From then on when I was out doing errands, I would run into from time to time. We would talk like we knew each other our whole lives. I will always remember her brite smile .

"To Rosemary’s family, I didn’t know any of her grandchildren, but we were neighbors for several years when she and Bobby lived on Smith Street. She taught me how to crochet. I loved rosemary. She was a special person. God gave her a special gift of being kind and always knew you anywhere she met you. She was a jewel in God‘s bouquet.

"To the family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your loved one Rosemary, she was such a kind and giving person! Even though it was in the late sixties the last time my late wife and I saw and talked to her, the personality that she had still carries in my mind. I'll be praying for you all that God will give you a memory of a special time in your life with her that will bring a smile to your face and comfort to your heart!
