Obituary

Donald “Donny” Wright of Trumann departed this life Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the family residence at the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 8 days. He was born December 21, 1953, in Jonesboro, AR to the late Alex and Florene McCarty Wright. He was a 1972 graduate of Trumann High School and member of First Christian Church of Trumann. He loved to hunt, fish, being with his grandson Cayden, and was a big Razorback fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Kay Wright, and brother, Reedy Wright. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Tammie Wright, of the home; daughter, Ashley (Erik Johnson) of Trumann; son, Blake Wright of Trumann; sister, Sherry (George) Pfeifer of Sturgeon, MO; 3 grandchildren, Cayden Steele, Taylor Johnson, Jordyn (Austin) Douglas, 1 great-grand-child, Toby Douglas, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 12:30 P.M.—1:30 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 1:30 with Rev. Mike Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro, AR under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers are Tim wood, Zach Mattix, Jerry Whitsett, George Pfeifer, Joe Halfacre and Wyatt Kenley. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Baine, Steve Hendrix, Michael West, Lynn Robison, Keith White, Aaron Robison, Eleven Gunter, Ryan Whitsett, and Al Junior Campbell. When he came to mow, he would always talk to me about everything. He would ask about my son and my daughter. He was a very good man who was down to earth with a caring soul.
