Mable Austin Tarver Huss of Jonesboro–formerly of Trumann and Conway–passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 8 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Paragould at age 90. She was born in Grubbs on August 20, 1936, the daughter of William Clay and Hester Austin. Mable grew up in Trumann, where she was a 1955 graduate of Trumann High School, later becoming a beautician. She married Emanuel Tarver on March 30, 1956; they also lived in Osceola, Forrest City, and Jonesboro, raising three children, and were married for 41 years until his passing in 1997. Mable would later move to Conway after she wed Eugene Huss on June 16, 2002. They were married for 14 years until he passed away in 2017, after which she returned to Jonesboro. During her lifetime, Mable was co-owner of a beauty salon in Trumann, a homemaker, and a door greeter at Walmart. She was an avid golfer, winning a Ladies’ championship at the Osceola Country Club, enjoyed travelling, fishing, bowling, and loving on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and her husbands, Mable was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jo Austin Shipp. Mable is survived by her two daughters, Joey Davidson and husband Andy of Batesville, Penny Oswalt and husband Will of Jonesboro, her son, Yogi Tarver of Jonesboro, along with her bonus daughters, Gina Carter and husband Guy, and Beth Bryan and husband John, all of Conway; She is also survived by six grandchildren–Blake Smith (Betsy), Brad Smith (Natalie), Blaine Tarver (Magan), Joe Clay Tarver, Kate Bryan, and Blair Bryan; six great grandchildren–Savannah Smith, Emma Smith, Austin Smith, Dylan Smith, Ava Tarver, and Macy Tarver; as well as nephew Tip Shipp, nieces Renea Mull and Liz Hayward, and grand-nephew Parker Mull. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 12th from 12:00 to 1:00 at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 in the chapel with Bro. Jeff Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro. Pallbearers are Blake and Brad Smith, Blaine Tarver, John Bryan, Andy Davidson, and Scott Neal. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Joe Clay Tarver, Tip Shipp, and Guy Carter. For those wishing to send memorials, the family requests they be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
