John Franklin Gilliam of Trumann departed this life Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the family residence at the age of 66 years, 7 months, and 7 days. He was born Tuesday, February 23, 1960, in Osceola, AR to the late John F. Gilliam, Sr. and Saretha Joy Carr Gilliam. He lived several years in the Trumann area and was of the Baptist faith. He loved to garden, and was a man of many talents, a tech guru, master printer, pilot, book writer and a living testimony for Jesus. He was affectionately called “Middy John” by his grandmother and was also known as “John the Great”. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Greg Gilliam. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Becky Gilliam of the home; two daughters, Danielle Gilliam of Albuquerque, NM and Amanda Douglas of Jonesboro, AR; two sons, M.J. Valdez of Albuquerque, NM and Jordan Belknap of Leachville, AR; a sister, Shanna (Russ) Cook of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, Brian (Liliana) Gilliam of Dallas, TX and Stewart Gilliam of Bentonville, AR; and two grandchildren Colie and Carter Douglas. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 3rd from 3:00 P.M.—4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. A Celebration of life will follow at 4:00 P.M. with Charles Dixon officiating.
